Background

My name is Patrick and I spend a lot of time sleeping in a tent. I work for the Wilderness Institute as a field leader for their wilderness character citizen science program. I live in Missoula, MT and enjoy learning the names, scents, uses, and sounds of flora and fauna of the Rocky Mountain West. I like to hike to places where few people have stood and I like doing headstands on top of mountains. My job requires me to hike all or most of the trails in various Wilderness and Wilderness Study Areas in Montana and I'll be spending this summer in the Anaconda Pintler and Welcome Creek Wildernesses. My job often feels like what other people consider vacation but when I am not working, I ride bikes, fish, canoe, rock climb and drink coffee. Here are a few of the places and things I took pictures of last season:
Thunderstorm over the Little Belt Mountains
 Sunset atop the Big Snowies
Burn in the Bob Marshall Wilderness
 Gaillardia aristata
Campanula rotundifolia
